BYO materials, food, sleeping attire and a fertile imagination. It is an opportunity for individuals to share their area of expertise in small workshops throughout the weekend. Môn printing, collage, papermaking and layering through glazing will be explored.

 

 

Constructing an unbound book.

March Friday 13th – Sunday 15th

Using works completed to date or creating new works; we will combine the previously created with enhanced possibilities using glazing, layering, Môn printing and collage - you will make your pages vibrate with interest. You will then create an unbound book of real individuality.

 

Painting in the Landscape

March Friday 27th – Sunday 29th

Through practical exercises, participants will investigate the visual elements of design, mark making & glazing.  You will work through process without anticipating the outcome; to discover where each layer can take you. This workshop is an opportunity to experiment & let go.

We will use a variety of layering techniques; working with glazing, mark-making, silhouette, print reduction and multiple views. Using acrylic paint and mediums, we will develop works that invite the viewer to discover rather than reveal; through rich varied surface and layered imagery. We will source the surrounding landscape for visual inspiration.

In this stimulating and informative creative workshop you will learn to observe and use nature’s abundant possibilities. There should be NO such thing as painters block!!

Mixed media and collage.

This workshop is an introduction and practical exploration to contemporary mixed media work. You will explore the possibilities inherent in using a wide range of materials. You will then be encouraged to use these experimentations & items found on your morning walks, to make small eclectic collages.

Môn printing from natures palette.

May Friday 8th – Sunday 10th

Not JUST Môn printing - this is a process with endless possibilities for creative mark making, gestures and painterly impressions. We will explore exciting ways to build up layers, colour and texture. Each print is unique in itself. Môn printing can be used with other printmaking processes and applied to or incorporated with existing works on paper or fabric. There are many ways to make a mono print from rolling, wiping, stencilling, deleting, adding, offsetting and layering

 We will have the advantage of collecting from natures bounty during our morning walks; Feathers, leaves, snake skin; along with collected man made items of lace, textured fabrics and various papers –  will make individual prints of exceptional beauty & variety.

Fabric printing

August  Friday 14 – Sunday 16th

This workshop introduces and explores a variety of techniques for designing and printing onto a range of cotton clothes and fabrics. Lino blocks, photo emulsion screen printing, collograph blocks and solar printing onto silk - will all be explored in a informative and interestingly easy way.

Over the weekend students will have printed permanent images and designs onto various materials, which can be used for a variety of projects, as well as producing a beautifully hand printed silk scarf.

Creating –‘ the Indulgent weekend ‘

 Only a few places available. 

Indulge in a beautifully catered, Six full days & nights of creativity. Let your soul breathe and your spirit explore.

It is an opportunity for artists to work with and learn from each other and to use new media.

During the week, the facilitators will introduce various media to try – grounds, collage & mono printing; however the artist can choose to and will be encouraged to, follow their own path.  The property offers numerous vistas within walking distance, or you can visit some of the scenic spots, a short trip by car. At night, we will choose to; explore each other’s portfolios, view interesting & informative DVD presentations, enjoy the expansive night sky around a bush bon fire, or discover the art of photographing work for future reference.

Groups keep small

No experience necessary, however it is an advantage.

 

Ikebana from the landscape

September Fri 11 – Sunday 13th

Lily Karmatz

Lily will guide you through the Landscape and help you discover the possibilities available to construct sculptural arrangements/ works, using fresh, temporary and permanent materials based on the Japanese art of Ikebana.

Once you have constructed these instillations you will be encouraged to use pastels/paints to express the design, colour and texture of these works.

Writing with colour

September Friday 25th – Sunday 27th

Words are full of colours: the bright hues of joy, the shades of sadness; the blinding fluoro tones of anger!

In this workshop, you’ll work with colours as well as with colourful words. You’ll begin with images, symbols and stories from your childhood. Through exercises and exploration these will unfold into new stories.

The landscape has an inherent influence on what we create.

The brown earth, blue of sky and vibrant bird plumage all become evident in the work created over these weekends.

Using the found objects collected during our morning walks we will embellish and collage onto our created surfaces.

These excitingly different grounds will be created using the non traditional approaches artists are using in contemporary mixed media work. Acrylic paint, gesso, Varnishes, shellacs and bitumen will all be explored.  Lots of fun.
